Why Use Slow Feed Nets?

  1. Stops your horse from gorging at the feeder.  Eating with the nets on makes the hay last much longer and mimics grazing.
  2. Keeps your horse healthier.  By having hay available longer, the gastric acid that is in the horse's stomach is being used to break down food, not cause stomach ulcers or colic.  This also reduces the chance of founder since it has been linked to overeating. Respiratory issues are also reduced since horses are unable to bury their heads inside to bale looking for the chaff.
  3. Eliminates hay waste.  Stops horses from wasting valuable hay around the feeders or wherever you hang the nets.
  4. Saves you time.  When you put out hay in a slow feed net, it will last almost twice as long as without it.
  5. Horses are more content in the herd.  They are busy "grazing" at the hay all day long and not getting into each other's business.  Feeding time is not fighting time.
  6. Makes spring clean up a breeze. . .no hay waste to clean up around the feeder!
